WASU is grateful for the considerable support it receives from volunteers, particularly in the field of advocacy. The trustees would wish to encourage anyone interested in supporting disabled people in their dealings with service providers to contact WASU office to find out more about this rewarding work.
Volunteering for WASU involves different aspects of work/support:
- Sitting on boards for the local authorities representing WASU/service users
- Involvment in the training ofstudents and professionals
- Train to become a WASU educator
- Having your say and making your voice heard on local issues e.g. your local day centre closing etc...
- Assist with or write articles for our newsletter WASUP?
- Working with & supporting other service users who attend meetings
- Attend WASU’s Annual events and help out on the day
- Become a Trustee
- Get involved in projects or consultations with service providers that may affect or change your life
- Attend events with display boards and promote WASU
